I took some photos today outside my house... I felt the first stirrings of autumn in this morning's rain, yet summer's grip remains.

An empty cicada husk hanging upside down from the branch of a maple tree

Hostas in bloom

An unopened rosebud. I can't wait to see how it looks tomorrow.

Same photo, but with auto color-correction by PSE. Not true to life, but I like the effect.

I have to say, I was a film snob right up until we got our new Canon... for me, I think it was more about the feel of the camera itself than anything else. So many digital cameras are tiny and you can't get a good grip on them, kwim? But the EOS 20D has the heft of my old Canon SLR, and it feels like my old camera -- only I don't have to blow all that money on film and processing. (Other bonus: I know immediately if the shot turned out, unlike with film.)

My guy talks a little further up the thread with [livejournal.com profile] jay1022 about digital cameras; you may want to scroll up and see what he said to her.

i think that's a an issue for me as well. i like the feel of my camera, and i like having more options than zoom and zoom out. :)

if i get a canon i can even keep my lens, which would def bring the price down... *is seriously considering this*

thanx for pointing me up the thread btw. :D
