...because of course, since it's the Friday before a holiday, the whole world is on vacation already.

Talked with the HR director, though. She indicated that they just wrapped up interviews and are working on references right now. She said I could expect to hear something middle to late next week (probably late since it's a short week), but it would all depend on how fast and how thoroughly references came back.

Got an email back from one of my references for school -- she's been in the middle of a scheduling crisis and hasn't done the letter yet, but plans to do it next week.

(Everyone who thinks I'll find out about both within days of one another, please raise your hand.)

On the flip side, she did ask if I had something else pending (and thus was under pressure to make a decision). I told her no, but that there's something pending that I expect to hear about soon. She told me to call back if I do get an offer somewhere else (if it's my preference to work for them) and she'll see if she can expedite things. So that sounds promising, but... hell, I don't know how to interpret anything anymore. Every time I think things are going well with a job search, everything blows up.
