ghoulsis: No, no checks. My check was here when I came in, but it was the only one.

Nice Designer: There was supposed to be a stack of checks for me.

ghoulsis: Well, they aren't here, unless someone hid them somewhere. [checks inside credenza, just to be safe]

Nice Designer: Who else is there?

ghoulsis: Nobody -- it's just me.

Nice Designer: Is Bimbo Designer still there?

ghoulsis: [head about to explode] No, she's gone.

Nice Designer: [long-suffering sigh] Okay, well, I guess I'll call Supervisor Dude.

ghoulsis: [tries to sound cheerful] Okay!

At least she didn't just hang up on me outright.
